WoW Midnight Season 2 is officially live, bringing a new raid, a fresh Mythic+ dungeon pool, updated Delves, another PvP season, new Prey challenges and a long list of seasonal rewards to chase.

After the class and endgame changes introduced in WoW Midnight Season 1, Season 2 shifts much of the action toward the Coiled Isle and the Curse of Ula’tek content.

The headline addition is the eight-boss Venomous Abyss raid, but there’s plenty happening outside raiding too.

If you’re jumping back into Midnight or simply trying to figure out what deserves your attention first, here’s what Season 2 actually adds.

WoW Midnight Season 2 Release and Unlock Schedule

Season 2 began during the weekly reset on August 18 in North America and August 19 in Europe.

According to Blizzard’s Season 2 unlock schedule, the main seasonal systems are now active, including Mythic+, PvP, Bountiful Delves, Nightmare Prey and Season 2 Great Vault rewards.

The raid is being opened more gradually for Raid Finder players. Normal, Heroic, Mythic and Raid Finder Wing 1 are already available. Wing 2 and Story Mode arrive the following reset, with the remaining Raid Finder wings opening over the next two weeks.

That means there’s already enough available to make Season 2 feel like a proper reset rather than a small mid-season patch.

The Venomous Abyss Is the New Season 2 Raid

The biggest PvE addition is The Venomous Abyss, an eight-boss raid located on the Coiled Isle.

The raid continues the Curse of Ula’tek storyline, sending players into the Vaults of Atal’Utek after Zul’jan releases Ula’tek’s broods. Ula’tek herself waits as the final encounter.

The eight bosses are split across four Raid Finder wings, starting with Nek’zali the Soulcoiler and The Twin Fangs before eventually reaching The Coiled Altar and Ula’tek.

For experienced WoW players, this is probably the most important Season 2 progression reset. New class armor sets are tied to the raid, alongside titles, housing decorations and higher-end rewards for players pushing Heroic and Mythic difficulty. Blizzard has also confirmed the Primeval Skyfriend mount as a Mythic Ula’tek reward.

Raid Finder requires item level 273, while the raid itself is available on Raid Finder, Normal, Heroic, Mythic and, shortly after launch, Story Mode.

Season 2 Mythic+ Has a New Eight-Dungeon Rotation

For a lot of players, Mythic+ will probably be where most of the weekly grind happens.

The WoW Midnight Season 2 Mythic+ pool contains eight dungeons:

  • Altar of Fangs
  • Murder Row
  • Den of Nalorakk
  • The Blinding Vale
  • Voidscar Arena
  • Ruby Life Pools
  • Kings’ Rest
  • Temple of Sethraliss

Five come from Midnight, while three older dungeons return from previous expansions. Ruby Life Pools comes back from Dragonflight, with Kings’ Rest and Temple of Sethraliss returning from Battle for Azeroth.

The mixture should at least keep the pool from feeling completely unfamiliar while everyone learns Altar of Fangs and adjusts to the new seasonal tuning.

There has already been community discussion around some of the returning dungeon choices and how older mechanics translate into the modern Mythic+ environment. Blizzard has acknowledged those concerns and discussed its approach to updating returning dungeons for Season 2.

Season 2 also gives Mythic+ players several clear milestones. Reaching 1,500 rating awards the “the Venomous” title, while 2,000 rating earns the Breath of Blight mount. Players who reach 3,000 rating can earn another mount, Breath of Ruin.

Timed +10 clears also unlock dungeon portals for each of the eight Season 2 dungeons.

Delves, Prey and the Great Vault Also Reset

Season 2 isn’t only about raids and Mythic+.

Bountiful Delves and keys are now active, giving solo players and smaller groups another route into seasonal progression. Season 2 includes The Ring of Glory, Gnarldor Isle and the Venomfall Deeps Nemesis Delve, along with new enemies and rewards.

Prey has also moved into its harder Season 2 content. Nightmare Mode and Curse of the Isle are live, with new targets, affixes and hunts across the Coiled Isle.

Most importantly for weekly progression, Season 2 gear is now available through the Great Vault. So whether you prefer Mythic+, Delves or other endgame activities, the weekly reward loop has properly moved into Season 2.

PvP Season 2 Brings Another Reward Chase

PvP Season 2 launched alongside Mythic+ and the raid.

Players can once again work through the seasonal ranking system for armor appearances, titles and mounts. Among the major rewards Blizzard has revealed are the Venomous Gladiator’s Goredrake and Vicious Lightbloom Boar mounts.

As usual, how much this part of the season matters will depend heavily on what you actually play. If you mostly raid or run keys, there’s no reason to suddenly turn Season 2 into a giant checklist.

That’s something WoW has taught me over the years: trying to do everything is usually the fastest way to turn a new season into work.

What Should You Do First in Midnight Season 2?

For most players, the priority is straightforward.

Get your character ready for whichever endgame activity you actually enjoy, start filling your Great Vault slots, and begin learning the new dungeon or raid encounters rather than worrying about completing every available system immediately.

Mythic+ players should start getting familiar with the eight-dungeon pool, especially Altar of Fangs and whichever returning dungeons they haven’t touched in years. Raiders can move directly into Venomous Abyss progression, while more casual and solo-focused players have Bountiful Delves and Prey available as alternatives.

Season 2 has enough parallel progression paths that you don’t need to live inside one activity unless you’re pushing difficult content.

Final Thoughts

WoW Midnight Season 2 is a substantial endgame refresh rather than just another weekly reset. Venomous Abyss gives raiders eight new encounters, Mythic+ has a completely refreshed dungeon pool, and Delves, Prey, PvP and the Great Vault all have new seasonal progression to work through.

For now, there’s more than enough to keep Azeroth busy.
